Wednesday 2/25/09

Well, my bloodwork showed nothing much except a slightly elevated potassium level, which may be because I was slightly dehydrated when I went in. I'm going back to have it rechecked.

I put my trailer in the shop on Monday, and I'll pick it up tomorrow. It was needing tires, and I asked them to check and repack the bearings. They had to replace the bearings, as well as the brake pads and magnets. I had a broken weld that needed fixed, and I asked them to move the spare tire rack under the gooseneck, and they cut a door between the dressing room and the horse area. With the brakes and bearings it comes to more than I thought, but I shouldn't need to do this again for a long time. It came to $1,400.00. The bearings had never been greased since it was new, until I bought it and added grease to each wheel.

Husband Mike comes home tomorrow. I'm picking up the trailer in the morning, after buying 2 new tires for the truck. I'll return to the farm, drop one trailer, hitch up the bumperpull, teach a riding lesson, and return to the town house to pick up Mike, drop off some stuff to freecycle, and load up whatever we can from the house.

I spent time today setting up shelves, and moving stuff around in the barn to make room for more stuff.

Our new horses are settled in. The gelding has put on some weight this week, and the mare, Lady, was not very ladylike today. We have been calling her "Dumpling", because she is so round, and sweet. Here are pictures of her as she looked today.

She is covered in mud!

Thursday 2/19/09

Sorry I've not written for a while, but I've not had much to report. I made an appointment to see a neurologist, and she said whatever is going on isn't neurological. She is basing this on a simple check of my reflexes, which are normal. Next stop will be ear, nose and throat to rule out inner ear problems.

Meanwhile, I'm having daily low belly pain that comes and goes. It may be gas, but it is very uncomfortable. I went to the Dr for that, thinking maybe I had a bladder infection, though not a typical one, but urinalysis was clean. He drew blood, and I'm going back on Monday to see what that showed.

The shed isn't up yet, though the floor is finished. There was a mix-up in the directions, and a critical instruction was missed, so they had to start over, and lost daylight before getting the walls up.

We have 2 new horses here on the farm for a total of 8. These were given to us. Both are ridable, and one is a retired show jumper.

I've broken 180 on my weight. This AM I weighed 178.2...Yeah!!!!

Does anyone out there know how to take apart IKEA furniture? We can't seem to figure out how to remove the drawers in my wardrobe. We can't remove it in one piece, it is too large to fit around the door, and too heavy...

catching up...

I'm very busy trying to keep up with things here. We're still on target to close on the sale of the house on March 15. I'll be in Mississippi that week, so I need to get a specific power of attorney for Mike to sign the papers for me. We still have stuff in the garage, and our bedroom that needs packed up, but we have done much of the moving/cleaning out.

I'm also teaching 3-4 riding lessons a week, and working on insulating and paneling the dressing room in my trailer. I'm still working Friday-Sunday at Town & Country.

The horse shoer is coming tomorrow. Indy and Birdie need new shoes, and the rest need trimmed. As soon as he finishes them, I need to go to the feed store, and the grocery store, and wash my dirty clothes, so that I'm all ready for work on Friday. I also have my riding student coming for a lesson at 3:30. Busy, Busy, Busy!!!

I'm feeling pretty well, but I've noticed seeing 'stars' sometimes when I'm not doing anything you would think would cause this, and I've had several boutes of verdigo lately. I need to make an appointment...

There is going to be a 'barn raising' at the farm this weekend. Not really a barn, but a storage shed, to store our furnature and stuff, so we can return the pack rat that is costing us $215.00 per month.
