Last chemo!!!!

I had my last chemo treatment to day. It was as bad as I remembered! I'm feeling nauseous, and tired. On the plus side, this too shall pass, and I don't have to go back for more. There is a bell that patients ring on their last chemo day, and Mike took my picture as I rang it, but I'm too tired to figure out how to download it from my phone. I'll post it here when I do.

I have the results of the MRI on my back. I have arthritis in my lumbar spine area. There are 2 disks that are just slightly wonky, too, but not enough to be causing the kind of pain I've been having. Next week, I'm going back on the Replenex. I'll also start back on the Aliev, too.If they don't control the pain, I'll see an orthopedist, and see if I can get copies of the MRI pictures to show him/her.

The ultrasound of my tumor shows no shrinkage since January, and it is possibly, slightly bigger. I'll still be getting breast conserving surgery, followed, after 3 weeks healing time, by daily radiation, 5 days a week, for 6 weeks.

My oncologist said I may be a candidate for a case study of an FDA approved medication for osteoporosis, that may help keep my type of cancer from coming back. Since I'm post menopausal, I'll need to do something to keep my bones strong anyway, so I'm considering it.

Hey, I'm working at Ohio Health, and ran across a copy of Medical Construction and Design magazine with MDAnderson on the cover. Are you having the new proton-type radiation? They have one of the few facilities in the country. It's more precise, with fewer side effects.

I don't know yet. I'll meet my radiation oncologist on April 7. I should know more then. Fewer side effects sounds good to me.
