Monday 8/3/09...

We had a very busy weekend. Saturday, as I was getting up and around, I got a call from a friend, who was going thru town, on her way home to Rockdale, and wanted to meet for lunch. Meanwhile, my oldest son arrived to help build fence. I left my husband and son with the fence building, and I went to lunch. I got home as they were finishing up, and getting ready to cool off and relax. I helped feed the stock, and we moved the chicks, and guineas, to the bigger chicken coop. They were getting crowded in the small cage. After everyone was fed, I cooked hot dogs for everyone, and the men built a bon-fire, using lots of empty feed sacks, and some scrap wood. We sat around the fire catching up with our son's activities, and watching the moon rise, till about 10:00.

Sunday, we took care of the animals in the morning, planted grandson's bean plants, that he started indoors on the kitchen window sill, and collected some eggs, then retired to the AC for most of the day, till about 5:30, then went out and worked on the fence some more. We are building an arena for lessons and jousting, where we don't have to worry about loose horses tagging along while we are riding.
When it was time, I went and fed the stock, after locking up the ducks and geese.

Today, grandson helped feed the skinny old horses, collected eggs, turned out the ducks, and watered his beans. Today, we got a total of 6 eggs, and at least one of our older hens was out of the coop, so I'm sure the dogs got her egg. Our pullets are coming into production now, and we will soon get enough everyday, not to have to buy any. That will be great!

I received a gift from my sister-in-law today. It is a necklace. A silver oval, with an inspirational saying on it.: What Cancer Cannot Do...it cannot...invade the soul...suppress memories...kill friendships...destroy peace...conquer the spirit...shatter hope...cripple love...corrode faith...steal eternal life...silence courage...

I wrote her an email to thank-her, and tell her that I need to be reminded of those truths, and that this would help.
