It's been a week...

...since I've written anything here. I guess anyone reading this would like an update.

Wednesday last was a treatment day. We arrived around 7:45, I had my blood drawn, and we retired to the hospitality room for some quiet reading time, since there was a 1 1/2 hour wait till I needed to report for my Exam before treatment. We reported on time, the dr thought everything looked good, but he didn't have the final blood results, just the preliminary... went up to the infusion center, at 11:10, planning on requesting an earlier slot if possible. They didn't open till 11:30. Wrote my request on my slip, since I wasn't scheduled till 1:00, I was hoping to get through early. Haaa! She said she would see what she could do, but didn't promise anything. We didn't go and eat first, since they provide lunch from 12:00-2:00 for patients, and we wouldn't have to pay for mine that way...They didn't call me in till 1:45...I sent Mike to get himself some lunch, and told him to bring it back up and eat with me. They didn't come for my lunch order till after 2:00, and I was afraid I wouldn't get any...

THEN they came in and told me that one of my blood test results was a little low, and they needed to call my DR, for his OK to treat me...GREAT!!! They went ahead and started my pre-treatment Meds... The diphenhydramine always gives me restless leg syndrome, I cannot hold my legs still, it is like ants are crawling around under my skin...that, with a good dose of steroids, helps prevent nausea, and other nasty side effects.
They finally got the OK to treat me, so the real stuff was started at 3:30...

I seem to tolerate the stuff pretty well, except that it makes my urine so caustic for the next 2 days, that I'm scalded, like I have a bad diaper rash. It takes days to clear it up, no matter how I treat it.

Thursday and Friday I stayed pretty much in my room, just walking out to check on the eggs, but not much else, trying to conserve energy. Felt well enough to go to the Elks Lodge Friday evening, to eat, and play cards. We got home about 11:30. Saturday, I sat around again, except I helped feed the stock in the evening. Sunday, we had an SCA practice scheduled, so I stayed indoors till it was time, to save my strength for saddling horses, ETC. We had a really good turn out for practice, and
finished one authorization, as well as re-authorizing a rider who hadn't played in about 6 years.

Monday is always feed store day. Picked up feed for all the animals...didn't unload it this time, but waited for hubby to get home. His hernias are healed, and it was trying to rain...

Today, we checked for eggs early, but there weren't any. I put all the trash into the bed of my truck, to drop off by the front gate, and had a nice shower, then headed out for my weekly massage. That, and a trip to Wal-mart, pretty much covers the week. I'm going to bake blueberry scones for tomorrow's breakfast. Wal-Mart had berries for $1.98 a pint, YUM! When I returned to the farm, grandson and I checked for eggs again, and this time we found 6, which he proudly placed into his new egg basket, and carried to the house. I found a nice, vinyl covered, wire basket at the Dollar Tree store, just big enough to carry a dozen eggs max, and perfect for 6 year old hands to carry. He had an accident last week trying to carry 6 eggs in his Tee shirt. Only 1 made it to the kitchen. He was very proud of his new basket, and placed it near the front door for next time...

We met a woman in Newport TN who has been in remission of her lung cancer for 9 years and counting now. They told her she had 3 months. I thought of you.

Good to know. Was it Lung Cancer, or Metastatic Breast cancer of the lung? They are 2 totally different things...as I've found out.
