We had another beautiful Fall day out here, on the farm. Son-in-law's friend had a birthday this week, and daughter's friends wanted help starting sewing projects for Dickens on the Strand, so we had a crowd out. Home raised duck is good! we will have more of same for our Thanksgiving meal on Saturday, after the official Thursday meal at my sisters.
We moved dining tables. I now have a table that will seat 6, with a leaf in place, instead of the plastic, umbrella, deck thing. Daughter now has the extremely heavy trestle table her dad built for us about 14 years ago. It looks good in her dinning room, but was too big for ours.
We had a huge bon-fire, burning a couple of old dining chairs that didn't match any others, an old bed, mattress, box springs, several mattress toppers, and my old green Ethan Allan sofa. There were rolls of old carpet, soggy cardboard boxes left from moving into our house, and lots of wood from downed trees, left from storms.
We had roast duck, raised here on the farm. The first of many.
Husband left early, before we moved tables or anything else. He played in a poker tournament, and won congratulations! The win was tempered by the fact that he drove home drunk, grabbed, one of the girls, hugged, her, kissed her cheek, upsetting her, and can't remember doing it. He got majorly offended over it, but, He needs to learn that when the younger crowd is here, HE isn't just one of the guys. He is the father of one of them, Big difference, but when he has been drinking, he loses his social filter, and wants to be just another big, beer drinking buddy, talking big, but he so upsets people, cause they don't know how to take it, and I'm stuck in the middle.
It frustrates me to no end that he feels he has a handle on his drinking, where all I see is having to argue with him over going to the Elks Lodge every Friday night so he can get drunk and play poker...and Tuesday is meeting night, MORE DRINKING, and always a monthly tournament, like today...open bar...
