I had a root canal done today. What a circus! It was scheduled for 10:00 AM. Anyone who knows me can tell you I'm not a morning person, and the office is a good 30-35 min. drive away. Pulled out of the drive at 9:10, and took the beltway as the fastest route. Arrived at 9:45. Filled out 3 pages of paperwork, as a new patient. Waited. 10:30, another patient arrives, and is ushered in. Asked at desk, what gives?
I'm told he is just here for a consult, and the Dr is still working on a patient. Waited. Waited. Finally called back at about 11:00. X-rayed tooth, set up treatment room. Dr comes in. I'm old enough to be his mother. He sits down, chats about my cancer, treatment, etc. He asks for a written release from my oncologist for the root canal. I don't have it, or the number for him. He takes his name, and goes to make a call. Waited. He comes in, sits down and says that the Dr isn't available, and his nurse can't OK the procedure, so we need to reschedule. I'm dumbfounded by this time. The dentist says that he will work me in tomorrow if I can get the release faxed to him during my treatment, but he won't do it without. I can understand, but I was all psyched to get this over with today...
I leave to drive home, 1/2 way there I receive a call from the nurse in Dr Pusztai's office. His meeting is over, if I can give her the fax number, she can send the written OK for the root canal. I pull off the hwy, write down the number, turn the car around, and drive back to the dentist. Long story short, I got it done!!!
