Thursday evening

Arrived at MDACC main building at 8:00 Am to get my port removed. They took me back at 8:30. I was finished at 10:30. I was informed that I needed to stay on a clot preventive/dis solver for a while. I called the breast clinic, to get a nurse, to call a Dr., to write the prescription. Then they had to decide what drug to use. Then the insurance company denied the charge, then they worked to get it OKed, and had to get the Med. transferred to the pharmacy where we were waiting, from a different one at MDACC. They only had 14 days worth, so I'll have to get the rest next time I go in. I still will have to give myself shots. the good news is, only once a day. The bad news is, for the next 2 months.

They didn't put in a new port today. I spoke to the surgeon's nurse today, and she needed the information about the drug they were putting me on. Since I didn't have that information until she was gone for the day at 3:00, she will call me over the weekend or Monday, and get the information to give to the Dr so he can decide when to schedule me for the implantation.

Though I was finished with the removal at 10:30, we didn't leave there till 3:30, due to waiting on my med. Another long day. One of the people I spoke with today told me that the MD in MDACC stands for Most (of the) Day.
